about
Tamara Thompson lives and works in Mississauga, Ontario. She received her BFA in Drawing and Painting at OCAD University in 2015. Her work has been exhibited and collected across Canada and the USA, and she has been working to connect and expand her creative practice.
Her work is an exploration of her travels through local parks and beaches. When she arrives, she soaks in the textures, colours and natural patterns of the landscape. She observes the different ways sunlight and moonlight cast shadows and highlights across the rocks, water, and flora of the area. Painting houses into the work is her way of inserting herself without a reference to her body. The houses are not alive like the trees, or moving like the water, but reference Tamara’s memories navigating elevated emotions.
