Tamara Thompson lives and works in Mississauga, Ontario. She received her BFA in Drawing and Painting at OCAD University in 2015, and has completed a residency at the Living Arts Centre. Her work has been exhibited and collected across Canada and the USA, and she has been working to connect and expand her creative practice.
Her painting practice involves looking at old pictures and videos of places she has travelled, and reimagining the image through multiple layers of glazes. Through layering swift brushstrokes and careful motions, a new reality emerges from the resulting image. A conversation between realism and abstraction, as well as anxiety and calm reflection transpires, as she work through the memories the places evoke.
